Here is a fun game that is also pretty hard that I found that has to do with graphic design. It has to do with design because it is all about solving a design puzzle of different colored circles and when its completed, you move on to harder and harder levels to solve. It seems easy but it also takes a lot of thought. Very addicting though so be careful!

Here’s a love story for the ages — or the movies. Iowa couple Norma and Gordon Yeager were both in their 90s and had been married 72 years when they were hospitalized following a car accident. The nurses and doctor kept the two together in the intensive care unit, and they lay there, barely responsive but holding hands. Gordon passed away, and, exactly one hour later, Norma followed him, still holding his hand. “They just loved being together,” says their son Dennis. “He always said, ‘I can’t go until she does because I gotta stay here for her.’ And she would say the same thing.” Here, a brief guide to their incredible story:
Who was this extraordinary couple?
Ninety-year-old Norma and 94-year-old Gordon Yeager met while Norma was still in high school and Gordon was working at the Chevrolet Garage in State Center, Iowa. They were married on May 26, 1939, the day Norma graduated. They had four children together, one daughter and three sons. Tragically, their two middle children were killed in car accidents. “They believed in marriage,” says their son, Dennis. “They chose each other and once they had committed, that was it.”
How did they die?
Last Wednesday, as the couple was driving into town, Gordon mistakenly pulled out in front of another car. The Yeagers were rushed to the hospital following the collision and given a shared room in intensive care. Though they were “not really responsive,” they held hands as they lay there, side-by-side. At 3:38 p.m, Gordon passed away, but, then, his family noticed his heart monitor was still beeping. “It was really strange,” Dennis says. Then a nurse looked and saw that the couple’s hands were still clasped. “Her heart was beating through him and [the monitor was] picking it up,” Dennis says. At 4:48 p.m., one hour after her husband, Norma passed away as well. “Neither one of them would’ve wanted to be without each other,” says their daughter, Donna Sheets. “We were very blessed, honestly, that they went this way.”
How will they be buried?
At their funeral on Tuesday, Norma and Gordon shared a casket and held hands. Once cremated, their ashes will be mixed together. They aresurvived by their two children, Norma’s sister, Virginia Keil, Gordon’s brother, Roger, 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. “We don’t hear love stories like Norma and Gordon’s anymore,” says Lindsay Mannering at The Stir. “We hear about lying, cheating, and divorce. Hopefully there are couples all over the world who share a similar story because I’d like to live in a world where this is the norm and not the exception.”

I love this article! I read it the other day and i had to repost it. This is one of the cutest things i have seen in a long time and i think its very inspiring for life. Its so interesting that this couple died this way for real. We see this happen in films like the Notebook, but to actually happen! There must have been such a strong connection between these two people that it brought them together both in life and in death and I hope one day I have someone that has that much of an influence on my own life to share it with.

I love those extra special embellishments that really say that you’ve taken the time and effort to make the gift or goodie something extra special. Not too long ago I saw a tutorial on how to make one of those generic bows out of burlap from For the Love, and it got me thinking… I wonder if you could make a fancy stacked bow out of fabric and have it still have a crisp form? I started to play around and sure enough you can. Here is how to make a DIY fancy bow out of fabric…
Here is your supply list…
Cut fabric interfacing {Wonder Under} to 8×20 inches. Iron the “right” side of the interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric.
Let the fabric cool and then peel the paper from the interfacing that is now affixed to the the fabric.
Place another piece of 8×20 fabric “right” side up on the top of the “wrong” side, with the interfacing sandwiched in the middle and then iron together.
Cut fabric into 9
strips…
Starting with the first 10 inch strip of fabric, make a loop on one end with the tail meeting up in the middle. Flip the fabric over and do the same with the opposite end witht he tails meeting in the middle and overlaping slightly.
Place a staple or two to secure the two loops.
Repeat with the rest of the 10, 9 & 8 inch strips of fabric.
Start to layer each section starting with the largest {10 in.} loops criss crossing them and adding a dab of hot glue in the middle to secure.
Continue Layering the largest to the smallest in the criss cross pattern until you have used all of the 10, 9 & 8 inch loops. With the 6 inch strip of fabric, make a simple loop making sure to size it to bow. Secure with a staple or a dab of hot glue. Then place at the top of the bow with a dab of hot glue. Voila… You now have a stunning fabric bow!

Here is an artist who utilizes typography in their art far more than most. Sabeena Karnik from India makes art out of paper and type faces. Although her art does not use your typical word document type face, she does extraordinary work with making designs within the letters. Her 3D designs are easily readable but yet still have an artistic quality about them which makes them interesting and unique.
Since we’ve been working on typographical designs in my visual studies class, I fid this website very attractive and convenient. Demilked is a design website and on their website they sometimes provide their viewers with free downloadable fonts. Their newly released webpage has 26 newly designed unique texts of all different shapes and sizes that are available for download. I think these fonts are interesting and unique and considering we are creating designs with text in my graphic design class, its awesome to see new type faces created everyday to utilize!
Stop motion videos take months to create, yet more and more people are inclined to use them. This is a stop motion video made completely with colored pencils. What I thought was the most interesting was the behind the scenes look at how they created the video. It really takes seeing how it was created to get a better appreciation of its value. Pretty impressive work!
I found this program that I thought was worth sharing. SumoPaint is an online photo editor that is strikingly similar to Adobe photoshop but it is completely free (not including the Pro version) and has most of the same features. The program utilizes layers for you to work on when using more than one design to create an image, as well as having many adjustment features, filters and effects and drawing tools, just like Photoshop. i think this is a great free alternative to Photoshop because it is so similar, and I will be playing around with it in the future. The best part about this program? It is supported by all computer systems, not just Mac or PC.
This video is incredible. I think these people are the bravest people I have ever witnessed. To willingly cartwheel off a cliff and free fall takes a lot of trust and drive to experience, because it would take a lot to convince many people to willingly jump off a cliff. I think this video is inspiring because it shows how people follow their dreams and desires no matter how crazy they may be. They are out to experience everything they want out of life and I think thats an important thing to do as we live our lives. But you dont have to be an adrenaline junky to get everything out of life, you just have to do everything that you wish to do, no matter how impossible it may seem.
Many people spend more than the required time at work every day. Not to mention that after they leave for home, many people spend more time reflecting on a situation at work or thinking of the workload they have ahead of them in future days. These stresses from work may cause some people to either sleep less or have trouble getting to sleep at night. Funny thing is, studies show that this turns into a vicious circle because working on less or poorer quality sleep will actually cost you financially. I think these numbers speak for themselves. It is alarming how much sleep can effect productivity and in result, effect our income. In a society where we must strive to do the best we can in a failing economy these numbers can mean a lot. This study does not specify if they conducted the survey over many different careers and jobs, but I can assume that this does not just effect people who work at a desk job or someone with that type of profession. I would assume that this can effect creative professions as well, and because creative careers make there money by what they produce alone, this article should be of great interest to them. The bottom line? Although you think you may be getting ahead by staying up late and working through the night, in the long run you might actually be effecting your productivity and in turn lowing your income by a significant amount.
