Stop motion Videos

Stop motion videos take months to create, yet more and more people are inclined to use them. This is a stop motion video made completely with colored pencils. What I thought was the most interesting was the behind the scenes look at how they created the video. It really takes seeing how it was created to get a better appreciation of its value. Pretty impressive work!

Online Version of Photoshop

I found this program that I thought was worth sharing. SumoPaint is an online photo editor that is strikingly similar to Adobe photoshop but it is completely free (not including the Pro version) and has most of the same features. The program utilizes layers for you to work on when using more than one design to create an image, as well as having many adjustment features, filters and effects and drawing tools, just like Photoshop. i think this is a great free alternative to Photoshop because it is so similar, and I will be playing around with it in the future. The best part about this program? It is supported by all computer systems, not just Mac or PC.

“I Believe I Can Fly”

This video is incredible. I think these people are the bravest people I have ever witnessed. To willingly cartwheel off a cliff and free fall takes a lot of trust and drive to experience, because it would take a lot to convince many people to willingly jump off a cliff. I think this video is inspiring because it shows how people follow their dreams and desires no matter how crazy they may be. They are out to experience everything they want out of life and I think thats an important thing to do as we live our lives. But you dont have to be an adrenaline junky to get everything out of life, you just have to do everything that you wish to do, no matter how impossible it may seem.

Life in a Day

Life in a Day was created by 26 producers and hundreds of real people around the globe. This movie was created to portray how the world works on a daily basis, demonstrated through a single day, July 24, 2010. Artists often find inspiration in things that happen everyday all around them, and this movie is 90 minutes that demonstrate just what that situation may be. Though some viewers find this video controversial based on their beliefs and opinions, they must understand the facts of this movie, that is its life, and that no matter how much they may not agree with it, its the reality of the world we live in.

Creative Sculpting 101

Ok, so this guy is not exactly the 101 type of artist, and by that I mean that his work is much more complicated than any 101 class could ever teach. Ray is a sculptor from New York who creates intricate sculptures, of which some of his most famous are the pumpkin carvings. He also does sand sculptures and action figure sculptures. What makes him the most interesting is his style.

Carving pumpkins is a tradition that people have upheld since forever, and the traditional pumpkin carving style has always pretty much been the same. Ray, however, challenges the traditional style by creating unique faces not my cutting into them but by carving into the skin of the pumpkin. By sculpting the pulp of the pumpkin, he can create the effect that the pumpkin is a malleable surface, and in turn make the sculptures look much more realistic.

I think that his sculptures are very innovative and fun, and they break the traditional “pumpkin carving rules”. The only thing that I dont like about these pumpkins is that they dont last forever, and so you can only enjoy the real ones for a small amount of time!
